I have resisted using the voice activated interface for Claude for a while, but since struggling with limited eyesight I decided to see if it could help me navigate some text. The way that the LLMs Are so obsequious fawning overly supportive made me think about porn. how those who consume a lot of commercial porn mostly aimed at young men come to have a certain idea of what sex is and could be. I wonder if in the same way interacting with these chat bots could give us a misleading and unrealistic idea of human conversation that is normally full of friction and misunderstandings and nuances. There are plenty of misunderstandings in speaking to a chat interface but not the interesting kind! the conversation is flat just like the writing is flat and inert. But I do wonder abput a deep psychic disjunction with humanness.
